JCCWA Sporting Events – Introductory Hill Climb Events.

It can be argued that hill climbs were the first form of motor sport. It makes sense that all that was required was a hill with a rudimentary road or track, a vehicle with stout hearted driver and a method of timing runs.

Hill climbs are still very popular today and the JCCWA has locked in three of these events in coming months. The first one is scheduled for November 19th- only a month from now. The second is on March 3rd 2020 and the third will be March 29th which will be the National Rally Sporting event.

In order for these events to be fun for drivers and to have some sponsor and spectator appeal it is necessary to have 25 – 30  JCCWA cars lined up for each day. It is not necessary for drivers to be particularly stout hearted, daring or audacious – just be someone who wants a different experience. The venue is Jack’s Hill and the course is 800 metres in length. It is nothing like the infamous Pike’s Peak which may be seen on TV with 800 hp all-wheel drive Godzillas racing towards the heavens. Jack’s Hill has 16 metres elevation change and should you mess up, your car will only get very dusty – there are no ravines to fall down, big trees to hit or rocky outcrops to ruin your day.

Competing cars will be directed onto the circuit individually and will complete the run before the next car is released onto the course. The format is Regularity which means the car with the closest  matched run times in two of the minimum three timed runs will be the winner. So speed doesn’t necessarily matter. Having fun and being a consistent, smooth driver will get you on the podium.

Jack’s Hill is next to the Barbagallo Raceway in Wanneroo – Wattle Ave East. The entry is about 500 metres before the main raceway entry gate and is clearly signposted.

Action commences at 8am on the day. A bacon and egg burger breakfast with coffee will be prepared for drivers and officials (If B & E burger doesn’t suit your palate the burger contents can be varied)

There will be a driver’s briefing and observation run prior to the commencement of timed runs.

Dress code for drivers is as per the track days – full length trousers, long sleeved shirt, closed shoes. Helmets will be available for those who do not have their own.

Fuel is not available at the course. Fuel in purpose approved containers can be brought to the course. The procedure for fuelling will be at a nominated place and will be a two person procedure with fire extinguisher at the ready.

Air for tyres is not available – bring your own portable compressor if needed.

Cars will be inspected prior to commencement of activities on the day as for the track days. Safety is the aim in this process.

Entry cost is $100 per driver (includes the breakfast). Single day license cost of $25 has been waived. Helmet rental is $20.

Please register your interest or intent at the Website so that we can get an idea of numbers.
